Nantahala Scouters,

   A Great Big Thank You to Each Pack (your Leaders & Parents)  for stepping up and help
making our District Fun Day /Pack Camping trip a big success ! We had over 40 Cub Scouts,
Siblings & Parents camping out Friday Night at the Farm & about 40 Cub Scouts (+ siblings)
participate in the Fun Day Sat.

  Thanks to each Pack that was responsible for one of our activities (crafts, bb's, archery,
slingshots, catapult, creek stomping & fishing. We also had the Rescue squad their for medical emergencies & 2 fire trucks to spray our Cubs with 900 gallons of water to cool them down.

Thanks to each of you  that served on staff as you all help put big smiles on each  young man's
face !

Don't forget Aug. 15th Roundtable at Mt. Zion Baptist Church...Bring your Dutch Oven &
come on day Mon. afternoon & cook ameal or dessert. We will be discussing Appletree
 Field Day as well as Fall program &  training opportunitues !

Don't forget to appoint your unit Popcorn Chairs !

Grogs Blog......

  Nantahala District News !

    Congratulations to Nantahala District Volunteers & Friends of Scouting for working
together to reach our 2016 FOS Goal ! Also, Thank You to every registered unit in
Nantahala District for selling Camp Cards. We were able to put back approximately $6,000 in hands of the units & the Scouts to use for Fun Day & Summer Camp ! Great job Scouts, Leaders & Parents in our Camp Card sells this year !

 Cub Masters, Please don't forget we have a School Night For Scouting Meeting Mon.
June 6 (Andrews UMC @ 6:30 pm). Please make sure you bring with you any new youth or adult applications (incl. those who are in K. graduating into 1st Grade next week) so we
can get those turned in to David this week. Thank You !

Lastly, Any units that will have leaders/ parents & Cubs camping out Fri. June 17 prior
to Fun Day, make sure you  have filed a Tour Permit on line (or through Mrs. Peggy at the Scout Office) & bring a copy of your Tour Permit & Medical Forms with you.

Grog's Blog.....

Scouters, I hope all is well with your Packs & Troops. We are in the process of Spring Recruitment for Cub Scouts (K-5th Grade) and for Boy Scout Troops. When we go to
the schools, we urge the leaders to encourage your Scouts to wear their Pack or Troop
t-shirts the day of school recruitment and help us urge their friends to join Scouts !

Also, please help us promote the Cub Fun Day (Pack Option to camp) at the Sheriff's
Farm on Friday, June 17- Sat. June 18.......
We will be doing crafts, games, nature, catapult, fishing, bb's. archery & slingshots.....
We still need a pack to  volunteer for nature......

Don't forget, this is the last weekend to sell Camp Cards  & May 3 is the last day to sell !!

Nantahala Scouters, I hope Camp Card sells are going great ! Please remember, May 3rd is the deadline for campcard sells. Please make sure your registering your weekly 25-card sellers on-line for the weekly drawing for a chance at a free week at CDB, Day Camp or Webelos Woods. Also, please pay close attention to money turn-in dates for youur 50% Commission. David has more Camp Cards so let me know when you need more.

Nantahala Volunteers,

  This is our Nantahala District Blog.....Please feel free to submit a Blog to me so I can post it &
encourage your leaders/parents to read it.

 I would first like to Thank everyone who helped with the District Banquet in February. Thanks to everyone who attended & helped prior to & after the banquet with clean-up. Also, Thanks to our Council President, Richard Hurley & our Council Commissioner, Tom Kuster for taking part in our program and providing  the entertainment. Also, a Big Congratulations to all  of the individuals & units that received awards at the Banquet. Nantahala Volunteers do so much and we appreciate each & every one of you for giving your time & nselfish servic to our youth. Dave Hotchkiss (COR, Pack & Troop 400) received the District Award of Merit at the District Banquet.....Congratulations Dave !

Also, at the Council Banquet in March, not only did Nantahala District get recognized for achieving 'Gold" Journe to Excellence, but two of our volunteers received the Silver Beaver Award from our Council. The Silver Beaver is the highest award a Council can bestow upon it's volunteers & our District Commissioner, Phil Keller & our District Chairman, Eddie Hollifield both were recognized & received their Silver Beaver Award that evening at the Banquet ! Phil & Eddie...Thanks for everything that each of you do for Scouting in Nantahala District & the Daniel Boone Council.
